The field of informatics is developing rapidly. The aim is to solve emerging problems with the help of computers. The Master‘s degree programme “Informatics” allows you to become much more than a mere user of tools. Instead, you learn how to develop and refine your personal toolkit using computer science concepts and methods. To help you build a solid foundation for your career in the long run, the English-language Master’s degree programme “Informatics” provides you with advanced skills in subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Business Information Systems, Data Science and Engineering, Distributed Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Information and System Security, Multimedia Systems and Software Engineering. During your studies you will master all the tools you need to manage problem-solving processes and develop innovations.

Building a broad theoretical foundation is essential in order for you to be able to keep your level of knowledge up to date rapidly and independently. Apply your expertise while you are still studying by completing a relevant project in the field amounting to 18 ECTS credits. And those looking to cross not only the university’s boundaries, but also those of the country, are encouraged to do so: We recommend spending at least one semester at one of our 250 partner universities.

Graduates of the Master’s degree programme in Informatics are experts in their specialist field with a comprehensive background in Informatics. They are qualified to manage complex software development projects, to define novel problem solutions, and to develop the concepts, methods, and tools of Informatics or one of the areas of application in a focused manner. They are distinguished by their high degree of independence and superior problem-solving skills. In particular, they are skilled at adapting to and mastering technical paradigm shifts. Furthermore, following three years of relevant professional activity and the successful completion of the Civil Engineer examination, graduates of the Master’s degree programme are entitled to work as chartered civil engineers in the field of Informatics.

Complete a semester abroad during your studies and spend it at one of the university’s 250 or so partner universities. You won't need to worry about your finances – we have plenty of scholarships on offer.

Upon successful completion of the Master’s degree programme Informatics, students can continue their studies in the Doctoral degree programme.

Over the course of the Master’s degree, students are encouraged to complete a suitable internship (project), in order to test, apply and expand the acquired expertise and knowledge in a practical setting. Additionally, it is recommended that students spend at least one semester abroad at a foreign institution or foreign university. In particular, students can avail themselves of the opportunity to complete the project abroad.
