Studienprofil
Informatics is a field characterised by rapid development, and it requires the continuous optimisation of methods and tools in their respective fields of application. During their studies, students acquire solid expertise and skills in the field of Informatics, learn the fundamental principles of economic interrelations, and gain in-depth insights into possible fields of application. In Informatics, software systems are generally developed in organisations, and embedded into social systems. Therefore, methodological, social and individual skills are essential prerequisites for the successful realisation, implementation, and the profitable deployment of Informatics systems. Consequently, competencies such as self-steering and creative drive are also high in demand.

STEOP
The introductory orientation phase grants students an overview of the key elements of the degree programme and of the course of studies ahead. Thus, it provides a factual basis for the personal evaluation of the choice of degree programme. As students must successfully complete the introductory orientation phase in order to continue their studies, it is recommended that the introductory orientation phase should be scheduled during the first semester. The introductory orientation phase for the Bachelor's degree programme Applied Informatics consists of the lecture course "Introduction to Informatics", plus the associated exercises, accounting for 6 ECTS credits in total.

Praktika
The software practical placement represents one of the key components of this degree programme. The placement offers students the opportunity to gain insights into the professional practice, thus enhancing their career opportunities. The placement is carried out over a period lasting two semesters, and is comprised of several separate projects, which are realised by working groups with 2-3 students under the expert supervision of an academic member of staff or a professor.
The completion of a written paper documenting the project progression and the project results is an inherent element of the placement. The objective is to use the placement project as a starting point in order to subsequently develop the Bachelor thesis.

Studienprofil
