Intendierte Lernergebnisse

Upon completion of this seminar, students will be familiar with ecology as an important social and cultural space in which language and discourse play a major role. Students will deepen their knowledge of linguistic and discursive practices and their constitutive functions in the field of ecology and its related discourses. In addition, students will familiarize themselves with adquate linguistic methods to analyze ecological discourses and ideologies behind them.

Lehrmethodik inkl. Einsatz von eLearning-Tools

- theoretical input and discussion of major sociolinguistic and applied linguistic research on the language and discourses of sport

- critical reading and discussion of relevant literature

- practical work with authentic data from e.g.  women's football

- short student presentations

Inhalt/e

The seminar on ecolinguistics will cover the following thematic domains

- the language of nature, environment and ecology

- discourses on climate and climate change

- greenwashing

- discourses on food & health 

- discourses of animals 

.... 

In addition, methods of (critical) discourse analysis and other linguistics methods to unravel eco-discourses will be covered
