  • Error analysis: an introduction (James, 1998; Ellis and Barkhuizen, 2005)
  • Definition of an error
  • Different ways of describing errors: error taxonomies (linguistic categories, surface structure, comparative, communicative effect, …)
  • The Scope – Substance error taxonomy
  • The CEFR – a push towards judging performances
  • Assessing Writing in the Austrian education system
  • Applications in research (e.g. language testing)
  • Analysing a writing performances (counting and judging)
  • (optional) I have the data, now what? Introduction to basics of descriptive statistics
