Course content

This module will focus on methodologies and tools for renewable energy systems modeling and simulation. They can be used to evaluate/estimate functional performance in order to achieve optimum system sizing and integration. This will include: tools for energy supply modeling; performing energy system design simulation and analysis; hands on simulation and analysis software tools (i.e. HOMER, TRNSYS, RETScreen); understanding climate and weather data sources and formats; optimum energy system design selection including advanced intelligent optimization.

  • Modeling of Sun
  • Modeling of standalone PV systems
  • Modeling of hybrid PV systems
  • Modeling of grid connected PV systems
  • Modeling of wind power systems
