Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

The aim of this pro-seminar is to show some of the most important interrelations and processes occurring in the interphase between the hydrosphere and ecosphere as part of the ample width of environmental and ecological geography. This theme falls within integrative geography (human-physical aspects).

At the end of this pro-seminar, students will be able to know the basics needed to understand landscape water distribution in different ecosystems i.e. agricultural lands vs. forests, the use of bioindicators to assess river health, how to assess the hydrogeomorphological quality of a river.

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

The learning method is based on reading key literature suggested by the lecturer, listening frontal lectures by the lecturer and digital material, search for news and discussions in class. This will be complete with practical exercises in class on the selected content.

Course content

The seminar may cover the following themes:

  • Landscape water distribution (agricultural and forest ecosystems)
  • River health and the use of bioindicators
  • River hydromorphology and quality status

The width of the content covered will be decided upon the number of students inscribed in the pro-seminar.
