Inhalt/e
Art history usually recounts a visual culture dominated by artists. Since the 1960s, however, the imaginary, understood as the repository of images of an era, is managed not only by artists but also by professionals at the service of industry. The Economic Boom also marks the boom of the image created by graphic designers, advertisers and art directors, who operate according to methods and aims that do not coincide with the artistic ones. With the new Millennium, the population in turn becomes protagonist in the creation of images, thanks to the Web and digital technologies. Thus, the multitude of amateur images enters the imaginary.
What space of identity does art maintain, squeezed between both industrial and amateur creativity? The seminar intends to analyze some exemplary study cases to reflect on the practices of exchange, conflict and mimesis taking place between artists, professionals and amateurs.
