Intendierte Lernergebnisse
Students will understand the complex interrelationships between different literatures and cultures in early medieval Britain. They will be familiar with key texts, their literary styles, and core themes. They will be able to critically situate and academically discuss texts of the Anglo-Saxon period.

Short theoretical and contextualising inputs, student presentations, plenary discussion of texts.
Inhalt/e
Definition and development of the Anglo-Saxon era. Seminal texts. Non-Germanic and non-British influences.
Prüfungsinformationen
Prüfungsmethode/n
Active participation in class. Short student presentation and write-up during the semester. SE paper (4500 words) after the end of the semester.
Prüfungsinhalt/e
Texts covered in class. Socio-cultural context and history of the Anglo-Saxon era. Students can freely choose the topic of their final paper within the framework of the class topic.

Quality and quantity of information, precision and depth of analysis, quality of argument, quality of secondary sources used.
