Course content
Augmented Reality (AR) constitutes a field of ongoing research since the 1960s of the last century. With the arrival of more powerful mobile hand-held devices (e.g., smartphones and tablets), also mobile AR applications like tourist guides or games have become widely available. Recently several manufacturers introduced new generations of head-mounted displays so-called smart glasses, promising more direct and unified AR experiences. The focus of the seminar is on selected research topics that arise from a HCI perspective on mobile AR based on hand-held and head-worn devices:
- Input Modalities (Gesture, Speech, Gaze, etc.)
- Mobile Interaction – Fragmented Attention
- Perceptual Issues
- Remote Collaboration
- Beyond Visual Augmentation
This seminar is dedicated to familiarize students with the state of the art in mobile augmented reality and to train students to conduct literature research and to compile information taken from scientific papers into a report on a specific topic.
