Inhalt/e
The phenomenon of globalisation and its effect on language and cultural change has led to interesting debates in academia. The media cannot be excluded from this phenomenon. Anglicisms are used on a daily basis by journalists as part of the media content they produce. In this class we will focus on both linguistic and cultural aspects of anglicism usage in the German media. After a linguistic introduction to anglicisms, particular attention will be paid to media globalisation and its impact on language. This will then take us to the question of why anglicisms are used in journalistic content.

Supporting literature in the field will be provided at the beginning of the course.
