Not only is there an increasing concern with health throughout the world, but also two other developments have led the health arena to grow in relevance:

  • first, the scope of what health is has been broadened considerably, leading to health communication to increase and also constitute a major aspect on social media;
  • second, new technologies  have altered how people perceive in health, opening up new opportunities for individuals to take an active part in their health (care and management).

At the same time, the platforms for health communication have multiplied, offering companies more possibilities to disseminate information on their products/services.

The present class will take a closer look at health awareness campaings on selected social media platforms (e.g., facebook, youtube, instagram, twitter). Potential campaigns are:

  • breast cancer
  • prostate cancer
