LV-Beschreibung
Intendierte Lernergebnisse
After completing this seminar, students will be able to define violence in a number of ways and distinguish between different types of violence (e.g. structural, symbolic, cultural etc.). Students will be in position to critically analyze the field of social work, current discourse and developments in practice, with regard to the subject of this seminar. They will have gained a broad understanding of violence in and out of institutions with a specific focus on diversity categories, especially disability and gender. Students will have developed sensibility towards at-risk groups for violence in social work environments and too, will have engaged with strategies of empowerment and prevention.

Inhalt/e
Scientific definitions of violence are introduced and discussed in the context of social work. Approximately half the seminar engages with disability and disabled people as survivors and at-risk group of violence in and out of social work whilst the other half engages with foster-car and youth-welfare institutions from a critical perspective.
This is an English-language seminar and all teaching will be held in English.
