Intendierte Lernergebnisse

By the end of this course students should be able to:

- understand and accurately use a broad range of business-specific vocabulary, studied both in-class and at home.

- prepare and deliver an engaging and informative presentation on a given topic

- actively participate in a sales phone call

- write a well-structured and accurate email in English using the vocabulary and grammar studied throughout the course

Group work, communicative activities, presentations, extensive self-study, regular vocabulary tests, writing and speaking assessments.

Inhalt/e

This foundation class aims to develop students’ ability to communicate effectively in the English-speaking workplace.

Skills that will be developed throughout this course are:

presentation skills
telephone skills
writing skills (focus on writing emails)
grammar (inclu. tense and aspect, pronouns and adverbs)
subject-specific vocabulary

Topics that will be covered throughout this course include:

sustainability
discrimination in the workplace
sales and marketing
internships

Recommended reading will be given throughout the semester
