Intended learning outcomes
- learn about current issues in environmental and sustainability communication
- demonstrate critical thinking about contemporary organisational life and communication structures in the society
- identify key theories and apply these theories in your analysis of environmental communication
- apply strategies and analyse and critique environmental communication, and in particular, considering ethical challenges for organisations today
- demonstrate practical skills for working effectively with communication material (identifying metaphors used in environmental communication)
Course content
The focus of the seminar will be to learn about environmental communication in general and sustainability communication in particular. By doing this, we will focus on metaphors for the „commons“ (water, soil and air) in the media and learn about resource related communication as one of the main Areas in environmental communication where sustainability works as an "ethical principle" in the background.
