Course content

Narrative in videogames has been debated fiercely and, for a time, even divided scholarly discourse in Game Studies into two opposing factions. Ludologists claimed it is not part of the medium's descriptive composition, while Narratologists gave it all-important status. This class will give an overview of narrative in videogames, its history, and essential terminology. Students will apply this initial theoretical input to their hands-on, shared experience of selected games.

Examination information
