Course Targets
All managers, not just HR managers, need a strong foundation in HR/personnel management concepts and techniques to do their jobs. Because all managers do have personnel related responsibilities, this course will focus on practical applications that all managers need in order to deal with their HR related responsibilities.
Essential HR management topics treated in this course are:
strategic HR, recruitment, placement and retention, testing and selection, training and development and, most importantly, leadership.
The intensely competitive nature of business today means HR managers must be able to defend their plans and contributions in measurable terms and in achieving the company’s strategic aims. By exploring the topics above, students will gain an insight into the importance of HR to a business organization, find out how each HR topic interacts with and affects the others and explore the importance of leadership.
In addition, through teaching the course in English, students will be exposed to the relevant international business terminology and the pragmatic use of English in business. The course target is to introduce the students to issues of modern HRM as practiced by international companies in Austria and abroad.
