Course Title:
==========
Transportation Telematics Advances: cooperative systems, automation, and smart logistics

General Course Objectives:

The goal of the current course is to provide technical students with interdisciplinary competences in the design and the technology assessment of some captivating recent advances in transportation telematics: cooperative traffic systems, vehicle automation and smart logistics.

Topics:

PART 1: General Introduction & Tutorial on Fundamentals

A. A short introduction to Intelligent Transportation Systems – ITS (1 Session)

B. A short introduction to Smart Logistics (1 Session)

C. A short introduction to Industry 4.0 (1 Session)

D. A short introduction to Autonomous driving (1 Session)

PART 2:  Technology related Students Seminars – First Batch of mini-seminars

E. Industry 4.0 in Intelligent Transportation Systems (1 Session)

F. Logistics 4.0 and the Internet of Things (1 Session)

 G. Autonomous Driving Cars – A technology Monitoring (1 Session)

PART 3: INTERDISCIPLINARITY related Students Seminars – Second Batch of mini-seminars

Possible topics for students:

H. Autonomous Driving from an interdisciplinary perspective (2 Sessions):

An autonomous vehicle enables its inhabitants to take hands and feet off the controls and engage in non-driving activities from the start to the end of the trip. Some reports foresee their coming in society in two-three decades, if the legal conditions and public support will be insured. This module aims at answering the following questions:

Session H1 “Design and development paths of Autonomous Driving”

# What is autonomous driving? What meanings of “driving autonomy” are embedded in the current technology research and development?

# Steps towards full vehicle automation. Nomenclatures

# Examples. Projects. Technologies for autonomous driving

# A self-driving revolution? Future assessments, technology development paths.

# Scenarios of autonomous driving

Session H2 “Inhabiting the autonomous car”- Usage

# „Inhabiting the autonomous car“ – The role of  humans in autonomous cars

# Freight transportation and autonomous driving

# Systemic evaluation of the socio-economic consequences

 I. Collaborative smart logistics (1-2 Sessions)

# Definition of collaboration in socio-technical systems.

# Collaborative consumption (Rogers and Roo 2010) and smart technologies

# Definition and development philosophy of collaborative logistics. Collaborative supply chains and Green Supply Chain Management (Attaran & Attaran, 2007; Hoejmose, Brammer & Millington, 2012)

# Examples: systems and technologies.

# Concepts developed in the Research Group AAU/IST/TIG: icitylog, Goods Move
