Intendierte Lernergebnisse
After taking this course, students are able to formulate requirements, do probability calculations and density estimations to determine failure densities for tested (electronic) devices. Students are familiarized with basics of reliability testing and methods for analysis. They will know about relevant failure metrics (MTTF, MTBF etc.), ways of testing parts according to respective standards. The ASIL is treated as well as fault tree analysis, calculations of minimal cut sets, HARA, FMEA etc. and when to use which tools.

The methods used to teach are presentations as well as calculations and examples done at the board. Active student contribution is expected.
Inhalt/e
- Requirements (Definition of good requirements, proper usage, SOPHIST rules)
- Functional Safety: standards [ISO,IEC], basic definitions, failure modes, dependent failures,
fault model and classification, reliability, failure rate, fault metric - Statistical basics: bathtub curve, distributions (Weibull, Exponential etc.), proper choice to fit failure data, fitting
- Analysis methods: Fault Tree Analysis, FMEA, FMEDA, HARA, Reliability Block Diagram
- Fault injection (using Matlab<Spice)
- Design of Experiments (DoE)
- Optimization for robust designs
Erwartete Vorkenntnisse
Basic knowledge in probability and electrical engineering is beneficial.Prüfungsinformationen

The grade will be made up partially from homeworks as well as homework presentations at the board and active participation.
