Inhalt/e

The new conceptualization of the digitalworkplace is one that empowers employees and awards them the opportunity towork independent of time and place. In this conceptualization, the employee’sexperience becomes key (BMC, 2016). Yet, a shift in work’s notion irrespectiveof place and time has led employees to face new challenges. The termwork-life-balance has started to receive more attention, referring to anindividual’s capability to manage and successfully juggle the different domainsof their life without any difficulties and tensions.

This conceptualizationpays tribute to the fact that peoples work and non-work spheres are interwovenentities and cannot be seen as separate from one another (Kanter, 1977). As theboundaries separating personal and professional lives increasingly blur, the ways in which employees connect, communicate and collaborate with each other in and outside of the workplace have undergone some changes (Deloitte, 2016). For this reason, employees are increasingly asked to employ strategies to successfully combine – as well as at times separate – the two spheres of work and home.

Topics addressed as part of this class are:

  • Individual and organizational Health
  • New Technologies in Organizations
  • Work-Life-Balance
  • Employee Engagement
  • Organizational Sustainability
  • etc.
