Intendierte Lernergebnisse

During the course, we will explore basic concepts from the field of distributed computing, including socket programming and remote method invocation. Furthermore, we will also get familiar with more advances concepts, such as Cloud computing and distributed applications development.

Lehrmethodik inkl. Einsatz von eLearning-Tools

The course will be divided into four distinctive parts, each one concluding with the achievement of the so-called “milestones”:

o Socket programming with Java, including client/server applications.

o Remote procedures calls, including object oriented remote method invocation.

o Web services with Java.

o Hands-on tutorials covering multiple Cloud based Services. Furthermore in this section we will learn more about virtualization and fault tolerance.

o Guided project development covering multiple aspects from the area of distributed computing.

The grading of your work will be continuous and will depend on how efficiently you will achieve the so-called “milestones”. Additionally, the class activities will be taken into account.
