Course Information
Intended learning outcomes
Students will gain an understanding of the basic concepts in comics studies necessary to think, speak and write about comics. They will also acquire hands-on, in-depth experience for critical analysis of graphic novels, and learn about key moments in American history as they are presented in comics form.

short lecture inputs; analysis and in-class discussions of texts from the reading list;
Course content
In this class we will investigate various comics and graphic novels, primarily focusing on the representation of key moments in American History, from the Second World War until the presidential election in 2016. The ultimate aim is to provide students with an understanding of American History expressed in comics form.
