Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

Presentation skills are important for students on many levels of their academic and professional career. Being able to effectively present oneself and various topics under different circumstances is considered a crucial competence that can be useful in many contexts. On an international level, this includes the ability to present in English as well.

This course encourages students to (further) develop the confidence and the ability to present themselves and different topics in English in an effective manner, based on each person’s individual presentation style and language competence. In order to achieve this goal, students will be acquainted with different tools and methods that will help them to prepare and deliver a good presentation and to feel more confident while doing so. Students are encouraged to practice their language and presentation skills in a relaxed and “safe” environment.

Furthermore, since it is not only important to be able to present different topics, but to also know how to lead and/or participate in a discussion (that might follow from a presentation), the course aims at enhancing discussion skills as well.
