Lehrmethodik inkl. Einsatz von eLearning-Tools

At each meeting, one article is discussed. All participants read all articles in advance of the meeting and identify critical parts in terms of key assumptions, key messages, etc.

Students with poor English may face difficulties to follow and have a very high workload. Students with little previous involvement in social ecology and land-use science may expect a substantial workload as well.

Inhalt/e

While productive land is limited globally, human demands for land-based products and services are increasing: Food demand is rising along with growing population numbers and affluence. Various policies aim to increase the amount of biomass produced for energy provision. Land demand for biodiversity conservation and carbon sequestration could also rise if respective policies are implemented. This seminar is focused on discussing current cutting-edge research papers on global land-use competition from a socioecological perspective. Participants are expected to read each text, comment on it and discuss it in the seminaro. Each text is presented by one or two students to facilitate discussion.
