Inhalt/e

The course deals with the current ongoing developments of the Austrian Lifelong learning system in the context of and in comparison to the European and International policies.

The conception of Lifelong Learning (interests, aims, interventions, impacts) as well as the Austrian education system and policies will be introduced as a basis for discussing and comparing the educational systems and policy developments of the students´ home countries. Individual and personal experiences with learning and education processes are the foundation and significant resources for the course.

The following issues will be discussed in more detail:

  • Structure, development and comparison of the International, European as well as national Lifelong learning institutions and policies (students analyse and compare their national Lifelong learning developments)
  • Wider benefits of Lifelong Learning (for example increased self-confidence, civic engagement, (mental) health, life skills, social cohesion, etc.)
  • Education and migration: Internationalisation of and mobility in Lifelong learning, education in migration societies and diversity in learning situations (students examine and exchange experiences with mobilities, mobility programmes and learning in an international context)
  • How Lifelong learning can promote social cohesion, equity and equality
