LV-Beschreibung
Inhalt/e
The course offers an introduction to the linguistic analysis of literary texts to show how language is structured and crafted for the expression of 'literary' meaning. Here the concentration will be on the discourse of modern drama. By means of sample analyses of a number of play extracts and a hands-on in-depth linguistic analysis of a particular 20th play in its entirety, we will discover the multiple and intertwining layers of structuring and meaning that combine to make dramatic language 'literary' in impact.
