The course applies principles and techniques of translating to literary texts.

Intended learning outcomes

Students possess the knowledge and the skills needed to tackle the translation of a literary text from English to German.

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

Group work, lecture, individual work, self-study. Study trip to the Stadttheater Klagenfurt ís scheduled for May 3 (Wed), 7 to 9.30 pm.

Course content

The course applies principles and techniques of translating to literary texts.

Admission:

Admission is carried out at the first class meeting. Students need to have passed Introduction to Translation (or Reading 1 in the 2012 curriculum). 

Preference regarding admission is given to students of English (BA or teacher training). See §12 of the curriculum for further details.

Examination information

Im Fall von online durchgeführten Prüfungen sind die Standards zu beachten, die die technischen Geräte der Studierenden erfüllen müssen, um an diesen Prüfungen teilnehmen zu können.

Written exam (45%); home assignments (45%); contributions in class (10%).(Mind: Using resources other than those explicitly permitted will result in a failing grade.)
