Students will have the opportunity to learn about how to find an appropriate BA thesis topic, conduct preliminary research to narrow the topic's focus, write clear research questions, and conduct in-depth research for their topic. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about others aspects of the writing process, including using academic vocabulary, avoiding bias, and improving English grammar.  Students will gain extensive knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style guide and how to consult it to improve their writing.

Inhalt/e

Students will do the following in this course:

  • brainstorm appropriate topics for a BA thesis
  • write research questions to address these topics

  • analyze other BA theses for form, content, and methodology
  • analyze thesis abstracts and write their own
  • conduct extensive research to form the basis for a BA thesis
