Inhalt/e
Pragmatics deals with language and its functional aspects: language is our primary means for communication. We will look into the various theoretical models of communcation, learn to differentiate semantic from pragmatic meaning, discover the various modes of communication (verbal, prosodic and kinesic modes) and learn to understand why we trust non-verbal messages more than verbal messages, we find out why communication works and why it sometimes fails. We discuss implicit rules of communication, the importance of context for understanding and investigage into cross- and intercultural communication.
