On completing the course, students should be familiar with:
- the phonemes of English
- intonation and other prosodic features
- word and sentence stress
- the (IPA) notation of the above and their realisation in a British standard
- connected-speech phenomena: linking, reduction, pausing

[This is the "German version". Since the course is taught in English only, the course description is likewise available exclusively in English.]
The course aims to improve the students' (RP, i.e. British English) pronunciation skills by increasing awareness and providing concrete practice opportunities. An indispensable part of the course is provided by the students' individual, continual work.

Continuous assessment, full presence mandatory. Written exam and recording are required by the end of the semester. Using resources other than those explicitly allowed will result in a failing grade.
