Admission is granted primarily to students of English (BA or teacher training) and exchange students. Maximum of 25 students admissible.Course content
[This is the "German version". Since the course is taught in English only, the course description is likewise available exclusively in English.] The course aims to improve the students' (RP, i.e. British English) pronunciation skills by increasing awareness and providing concrete practice opportunities. An indispensable part of the course is provided by the students' individual, continual work.Topics

- Vowels and consonants, in isolation and in combination
- Attitudes and obstacles in the acquisition of pronunciation
Teaching objective
On completing the course, students should be familiar with - the phonemes of English - intonation and other prosodic features - word and sentence stress - the (IPA) notation of the above and their realisation in a British standard - connected-speech phenomena: linking, reduction, pausingPrior knowledge expected
