Registration to the teaching practice.

Inhalt/e

The class introduces students to practical aspects of teaching English in the classroom and provides guidance in classroom observation and in preparing, teaching and analysing lessons.

The first official meeting with the supervisors and an introduction to the course takes place on 6 October 2014!

  • Characteristics of good practice activities
  • Meaningful homework assignments
  • The roles of the teacher
  • Classroom management and teacher-student interaction
  • Dealing with heterogeneous classes
  • Giving feedback to learners, learner assessment
  • Preparing student-centred lessons

Lehrziel

The course will make future teachers of English aware of their choices when preparing and teaching lessons. It will provide opportunities to plan, discuss and try out ideas for the classroom. The class also provides time and space for reflections on the students' first English teaching experiences in a large(r) group.

Erwartete Vorkenntnisse

Knowledge from "Introduction to English Teaching Methodology"; signed up for the teaching practice; basic knowledge of Problem Based Learning (PBL)

Sonstige Studienbehelfe

Students are expected to read the information on PBL provided by the course instructor prior to the first class meeting.
