Course content
Computer aided design and optimization gains more and more importance in the development process of new products. A comprehensive knowledge about the physical effects and numerical schemes is essential for setting up useful numerical simulations. After an engineering oriented introduction to the mathematical modeling of materials, the students will learn to use numerical simulation to design and optimize entire mechatronic systems. Topics covered include • Fundamentals o Electrical material properties : Conductivity, Permittivity, Permeability o Mechanical material properties o Mathematical modeling • Physical Effects, such as o Piezoelectricity o Piezoresistivity o Hall, AMR and GMR o Fluxgate o Electrooptical and magnetooptical effects o … • Introduction to numerical methods o FEM, FIT, BEM o Stationary/transient analysis • Application examplesExamination information
