Group work:teams (meetings)select business concept, plan start-up & write a business plan. Individual team meetings with teacher for individual feedback. Process approach to writing (feedback loop. Exercises to develop negotiation techniques. Online vocabulary training.

Scenario: Setting up a small business 1. Running effective meetings 2. Drawing up a business plan

Topics

  • Setting up a small business - key stages, relatedvocabulary
  • Holding meetings - chairperson skills, effective participation, visualisation, meetings protocol tools
  • Writing a business plan - reader-friendly business writing
  • Negotiation in English - basic techniques

Teaching objective

Students should be able to chair a meeting effectively in English (management of discussion, interaction & conflict, visualisation, online meetings support) & be a constructive participant. Students should also be able to handle basic negotiation techniques in English. Students should use the writing of a business plan section (training re content & form of business plan) to develop informative reader-friendly business writing skills & vocabulary.
