Intendierte Lernergebnisse
Students shall know the scope of media law, the obligations of media owners as well as the limits of free speech and be able to assess typical risks connected with media (eg defamation, violation of intellectual property rights).

- Definition and types of media (online, offline etc)
- Obligation of media owners
- Criminal offenses via media
- Discussion of cases in media law
- Media law-related e-commerce law
- Media law-related intellectual property law

- Basic knowledge of the law system
Curriculare Anmeldevoraussetzungen
Due to the high number of students in the last semester, which exceeded the maximum capacity, students, for whom this course is mandatory (media and convergence management) will be prioritized. Students, who enrolled last year, but then didn't show up without deregistering or dropped out later without explanation will get a lower priority.

Beurteilungskriterien/-maßstäbe
Written test (80%)
Active participation / taking part in the discussions in the lecture (20%)
50% of the points are needed for passing the course
Attendance: Presence at the sessions in Klagenfurt at minimum 4 of the 7 sessions from 14.10.2024 to 9.12.2024 and the exam (20.1.2025) is mandatory. Remotely or asynchronous participation is not possible.
