Intendierte Lernergebnisse
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Apply media informatics concepts and theories to real-world problems.
Communicate their acquired knowledge in the field of media informatics effectively through presentations and discussions
Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills in the field of media informatics.
Lehrmethodik
This lab course focuses on practical applications of media informatics concepts and theories. Students will work on assignments, exploring various aspects of media informatics. The course aims to develop students' problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and understanding for media informatics technologies.
Inhalt/e
Basics of computer science and selected topics of media informatics, such as, but not limited to introduction to coding and cryptography, or media representation on computers.
Erwartete Vorkenntnisse
Lecture [180.808] Introduction to Media Informatics recommended.
Prüfungsinformationen
Prüfungsmethode/n
In the lab course, students will be asked to present home assignments. In addition the final grade will consider assignments that students need to upload to moodle.
Prüfungsinhalt/e
Home assignments are subject to the topics discussed in the lab course. Graded assignments may additionally required the students to consider provided literature.
Beurteilungskriterien/-maßstäbe
Grading scale as percentage of the totally reachable points:
>= 93%: 1
>= 85%: 2
>= 75%: 3
>= 60%: 4
< 60%: 5
Where home assignments make up 60% of the final grade and graded assignments 40%.
Regular attendance is highly encouraged, as it is an essential part of the learning process. Attendance is compulsory for the following sessions:
First lab session
Home assignment discussion sessions
Unjustified absences mean that the home assignments for the corresponding session are regarded as not solved. Justified absences (e.g., illness, family emergencies, etcpp.) should be communicated as soon as possible via email to decide on an alternative way to prove solving home assignments (decided on a case-by-case basis).
