Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students should:

- be able to actively and accurately use the business-specific vocabulary and phrases that have been studied in class and at home;

- have deepened their understanding of, and ability to produce, a range of grammatical structures;

- have the skills needed to follow and contribute extensively to a meeting on a pre-assigned topic;

- be able to conduct negotiations effectively, using a range of phrases studied both in class and at home.

Teaching methodology

Group and individual work, extensive self-study, vocabulary assessments, speaking and writing tasks and assessments.

Course content

Skills that will be developed throughout this course are:

  • ability to participate confidently and effectively in a meeting,
  • ability to negotiate,
  • writing skills (awareness of formal/informal differences),
  • reading skills (case studies, news articles),
  • grammar (including tense and aspect, prepositions and relative clauses),
  • subject-specific vocabulary (with a focus on phrasal verbs and idiomatic expressions).

Prior knowledge expected

General English proficiency on B2+ level.
