LV-Beschreibung
Intendierte Lernergebnisse

Intendierte Lernergebnisse
The combination of GIS and programming opens up numerous possibilities for the automation of processes in Geographic Information Systems.
The aim of the course is to enable students to efficiently use the advantages of an object-oriented programming language such as Python in a GIS.
Lehrmethodik
Lecture and exercises.
Inhalt/e
The use of GIS routines and tool scripts not only facilitates the execution of spatial analyses to address specific questions but also provides the opportunity for a deeper technical insight into a GIS, exploring its functions from an object-oriented perspective.
Examples in the course range from
- the automated creation of thematic maps
- and spatial analyses,
- data analyses as well as data management
- to analyses in transportation networks.
The efficient use of Geographic Information Systems can significantly contribute to sustainability, particularly in addressing questions related to resource utilization and associated environmental impacts.

Prüfungsinformationen
Prüfungsmethode/n
Mitarbeitsbeurteilung, Aufgaben, Proseminararbeit.
Programmcode.
Prüfungsmethode/n
Evaluation of activity in classroom, exercises, proseminar work.
Prüfungsinhalt/e
The presented contents (overview to be found in the slides), capability to apply the skills learned in the course.
Beurteilungskriterien/-maßstäbe
Exercises are carried out during the course.
Tasks are to be solved at home and are uploaded to Moodle.
Final proseminar work.
Both the tasks and the proseminar paper must both be assessed positively with 50% of the possible points in order for the PS to be completed positively. Activity in classroom is included in the assessment. Attendance in at least 80% of the course units is mandatory.
For the above-mentioned the following handling of AI-based applications is defined:
For teaching and learning didactic reasons, the use of artificial intelligence tools is prohibited for those work and writing processes that occur in the area of interpreting results (empirical part of tasks) and in the context of surveying the state of research.
The following applies to the other sub-areas: Students commit to disclosing the use of AI tools in the text product and to label AI-generated passages accordingly (suggestions for labeling and guidelines for the responsible use of AI tools will be discussed in the course and provided on Moodle). The students assume sole responsibility for the text produced.
