Intendierte Lernergebnisse

The aim of this course is to give an introduction to some basic aspects of cybersecurity, these include cryptography, protocols, system security and network security. 

Lehrmethodik inkl. Einsatz von eLearning-Tools

There will be interactive and non-interactive slots: the interactive slots are sometimes used to provide further explanations, we do labs, sometimes students present solutions to exercises


There are pre-recorded videos available, as well as slides; the pre-recorded videos are used when lecturers are not available.

Inhalt/e

This course will cover commonly used cryptographic primitives and their role in information and communication security, security notions of cryptographic designs/schemes,  ideas of secure computation, introduction to system security, introduction to network security and introduction to secure communication protocol.

Programming exercises/examples are mainly based on C and Python.

Erwartete Vorkenntnisse

Students need to be able to do  basic maths (algebra, probability) and have some understanding of computing/networking. If in doubt, please at least watch some of the videos of  "This is CS50" (DuckDuckGo will direct you to the right corner of the Internet). 

But the course is self-contained, so we cover what we need along the way, this is also why there are no prerequisites.
