Intended learning outcomes
Die wichtigsten Ziele dieses Kurses sind:
- selbstbewusst und effektiv in einer Vielzahl von Geschäftsgesprächen und Verhandlungen zu kommunizieren
- Förderung der Selbstständigkeit in der englischen Sprache durch persönliche Reflexion und Entwicklung nach dem Kurs
Am Ende des Kurses sollten die Teilnehmer in der Lage sein:
- selbstbewusst und frei über vorher festgelegte Themen zu sprechen
- an Besprechungen über vorgegebene Themen teilzunehmen und einen umfassenden Beitrag zu leisten
- effektiv zu verhandeln und dabei eine Reihe von Techniken und Redewendungen zu verwenden
- ihre eigenen Sprachbedürfnisse zu analysieren und zu bewerten
- aktiv angemessenes geschäftsspezifisches Vokabular und Redewendungen verwenden
- ihr Verständnis für eine Reihe von grammatikalischen Strukturen zu vertiefen und ihre Fähigkeit, diese zu produzieren, zu verbessern.

Course content
Der Kurs befasst sich mit sprachlichen Fragen in den folgenden Zusammenhängen:

- Teamarbeit (in Fern-, Hybrid- und Präsenzsituationen)

- Bewertung der eigenen sprachlichen Stärken und Schwächen

- Schriftliche Kommunikation (Bewusstsein für Stile und Zielgruppen)
- Erkennen von Schlüsselideen in verschiedenen schriftlichen Texten [Lesekompetenz]
- Erkennen und Anwenden von relevantem fachspezifischem Wortschatz (mit Schwerpunkt auf phrasal verbs und idiomatischen Ausdrücken)
- Verbesserung der Sprachkompetenz (einschließlich Analyse und Aufbau komplexer grammatikalischer Strukturen)

Intended learning outcomes
The key aims of this course are to:
- communicate confidently and effectively in a variety of business meeting and negotiation contexts
- promote self-reliance in the English language through post-course personal reflection and development.
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- speak confidently and freely on pre-assigned topics
- follow and contribute extensively to meetings on pre-assigned topics
- negotiate effectively, using a range of techniques and phrases
- analyse and evaluate their own language needs
- actively use appropriate business-specific vocabulary and phrases
- deepen their understanding of, and their ability to produce, a range of grammatical structures.
Teaching methodology
Teaching methods will include:
- role play
- individual and group activities
- written and video-based case studies
- self-study tasks.
Course content
The course will address language issues in the following contexts:
- leadership
- intercultural communication
- marketing
- teamwork (in remote, hybrid and face-to-face settings)

- negotiating successfully (persuasion, active listening, analytical thinking, problem solving)
- evaluating personal language strengths and weakness

- recognising and applying relevant subject-specific vocabulary (with a focus on phrasal verbs and idiomatic expressions)
- enhancing language currency (including analysis and composition of complex grammar structures)
