Inhalt/e
Multilingualism, the knowledge and use of more than one language, defines the language practice of people in many parts of the world. Frequently, English plays a role in the individual multilingual repertoires of speakers as a second language, a learner language, or a first language among other tongues. In this class, we will investigate the notion of multilingualism from a social and a cognitive point of view. Different contexts of multilingualism involving English as one language among others will be discussed, and, in their own research, participants will have the opportunity to explore a range of aspects that concern multilingual habits in the Englishes-speaking world.
