Intendierte Lernergebnisse

The learning intentions of the Visual Reporting course are to create a learning atmosphere that fosters self-confidence, gain knowledge on the history of visual reportage, and learn a mixed narrative technique that stimulates students' creativity. The course will be offered as an interdisciplinary seminar, with examples mainly coming from the context of journalism. The exchange of experiential knowledge from participants of other disciplines is welcome and reinforces the interdisciplinary character of the course. While there are no specific search results that address the learning intentions of this particular course,  this course cover essential skills in visual storytelling and explore the practical, critical, and theoretical aspects of visual journalism.

Inhalt/e

The Visual Reporting course aims to explore the convergence of journalism and art.  By learning examples from visual reportage, including opposing drawing and photography narratives, the course highlights key areas of reportage-making, including a revision of comic, carnet de voyage and photography form in journalism. Visual reportage involves understanding drawing on location with the aim of capturing observed subjects, serving to document places and significant events of the time through the observer's perception. 

Course Objectives: Develop critical thinking, analytical, and visual skills through the study of Susan Sontag, Augusto Paim, Hugo Pratt, S. Postema, John Berger's works. Since the instructor counts with experience in the field, her own insights are also expected.

     Social implications of visual reporting
