LV-Beschreibung
Intendierte Lernergebnisse
Students are able to comprehend and implement (advanced) computational tools in the context of Bayesian inference, in particular efficient sampling methods for (potentially) parameter-rich latent variable and state-space models used in state-of-the-art predictive modeling.
Lehrmethodik
Lectures, exercises, and case studies. In addition, students will be asked to work out a recent scientific paper in the context of Bayesian inference and present the contents in class.
Inhalt/e
Topics will partly be chosen on students' interests, e.g.:
- Basic Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) techniques: recap and selected topics
- Mathematical aspects of MCMC
- Bayesian inference in high-dimensional models
- Recent advanced in MCMC and sequential Monte Carlo
- Contemporary methods for state space models
- Bayesian non-parametric statistics
- Modeling high-dimensional time series
Erwartete Vorkenntnisse
