This course, after a principal introduction to the basics of anthropogenic climate change, will cover social-science perspectives on human transactions with climate change. This initially encompasses questions of public perceptions and risk perception in particular. The course then dives deeper into the issue of climate change mitigation and adaptation intentions and associated constructs such as beliefs and world views. Further focusing on the issue of mitigation, the course than explores the issue of social acceptance of renewable energy technologies, linking back to theoretical input on social scientist theories of human climate change transactions. The lecture will equip students with a good understanding of the fundamentals of climate change, associated climate change strategies, with a particular focus on social science aspects of individual but equally socio-political agency with regards to climate change.
