Intendierte Lernergebnisse
This course deals with the use of graded readers to teach English as a foreign language. With the help of literature and teachers’ resources, students will plan their own lessons and design activities based on five different graded readers for lower and upper grades in the Austrian school system. The aim is to prepare the resources in a way that they can be used in school.

- What are graded readers?
- Which graded readers are out there?
- How can graded readers be used to teach language skills?
- focus on teaching reading, listening, writing, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar
- teaching about culture
- Focus on fiction for lower and upper grades (Hounds of Baskerville, Pig-Heart Boy, Slumdog Millionaire)
- Focus on non-fiction and classic literature (How to Give Up Plastic, The Great Gatsby, A Christmas Carol)
- How to generate interest in reading?
- designing pre-reading, while-reading, and post-reading activities
- using literature in isolated lessons or in a series of lessons
