Intendierte Lernergebnisse

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

- demonstrate knowledge of linguistic theory and linguistic concepts in general and in the context of semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and corpus linguistics

- demonstrate a competence in discussing, evaluating and independently analyzing major linguistic phenomena in the indicated areas; and

- demonstrate knowledge of the general global picture of the field of English linguistics.

Lehrmethodik

Lecture course with practical parts requiring active student participation; homework where relevant and appropriate

There will be a tutorial accompanying the lecture (Details to be announced during the first session)

- sociolinguistics

- psycholinguistics

- corpus linguistics

Erwartete Vorkenntnisse

Students must have successfully completed Introduction to Linguistics I.
