Beurteilungskriterien/-maßstäbe

Home assignments will be published on Moodle. Students will declare which problems they have solved and can present, via ticklists (Kreuzesystem, the link is on Moodle). In class, students will present their solutions.

The grading scheme is as follows.

The number of problems ticked in the  Kreuzesystem will be converted into submission points. For each homework assignment, the number of submission points is the fraction of the problems that a student solved. (Example: If an assignment consists of 5 problems and a student ticks 3 of them, then he/she will get 0.6 submission points for this homework). The maximum possible total number of submission points is 12 (there will be 12 exercise sessions, and the worst submission won't be considered).

Class presentations will be graded from 1 (bad) to 4 (good). The average of these grades that a student gets during the semester, will make the presentation points. They will be added to the submission points, thus giving a pre-final grade of at most 16 points.

In order to pass the course, a student should

1. collect at least 7.5 submission points (out of maximally possible 12),

2. collect at least 10 points in total, and

3. solve at least one problem in every assignment.

In this case, the pre-final grade will be converted into the final grade as follows:

[10 – 11.5) → acceptable (4)

[11.5 – 13) → satisfactory (3)

[13 – 14.5) → good (2)

[14.5 – 16] → very good (1).

Active participation in discussions might give a bonus if the pre-final grade is very slightly below the separating value.

If a student cannot present a solution of the problem that he/she ticked as solved, all the submission points for that week will be cancelled. If this situation repeats, the student will not pass the course.

Attendance is compulsory. If you cannot attend due to a health-related issue (or some other emergency), please inform me in advance by a short e-mail.
