Intendierte Lernergebnisse
At the end of the course you will be able to better understand the complexity of the relation between private enterprises and public institution and be able to analyze some of their more important developments.
Lehrmethodik
Lectures (in class and online) and case studies.
Inhalt/e
The institutional environment of business: regulatory frameworks and regulatory regimes and their impact on the economy of private enterprises. The concepts of enforcement and compliance in the regulatory environment. The theory of regulatory capture.
Financial relations between governments and private enterprises: the effects of taxation and subsidies on the activity of enterprises.
The purchasing activity of public institution. Legal and regulatory aspects of public purchasing, with special reference to the public procurement directives of the European Union.
The supply of public services to private enterprises. The role of public utilities. The support of public institutions to the international activities of private enterprises.
The support of government policy by private enterprises.
Informal relations between public institutions and private enterprises. Lobbying and its influence on regulation and public purchasing. The relation of private enterprises with political parties.
Erwartete Vorkenntnisse
Students are expected to have already completed the course “Public Management”, although this is not compulsory.
