LV-Beschreibung
Intendierte Lernergebnisse
The aim of this course is to give you an opportunity to get hands on with cryptanalytic attacks.
We offer two tracks (we'll explain why in the first slot): one will cover side channel and faults attacks and the other track will cover classical cryptanalysis.
Lehrmethodik inkl. Einsatz von eLearning-Tools
Pre-recorded videos, slides and lecture notes, interactive slots.
Inhalt/e
classical cryptanalysis, side channels and how to exploit/detect them, ML/DL as applied to side channels
Erwartete Vorkenntnisse
You must have a good awareness of the role of cryptography and the challenges of engineering cryptography securely. Our running cipher example will be AES (a vanilla and a "secure implementation").
For classical/mathematical cryptanalysis we will use AES-like toy ciphers, DES, and MD5 (or similar) hash functions.
Thus you should have either attended: Cryptography/Crypto Engineering/Systemsicherheit (BSc) OR Introduction to Cybersecurity (MSc).
Literatur
We will provide slides/notes.
