Course Information
Intended learning outcomes
The students gain insights in the different aspects of business process management and are, therewith, able to critically reflect and discuss the challanges concerning process management. Especially the aspects of lean management and Industry 4.0 and its effect on processes will be considered. An instrument to analyse processes (TRIPLE M - Mathera Matrix Methodology) will be teached and applied, which is a powerful methodology to promote bottom up change of the process-oriented organisation as well as the organisational structure. Through practical application of cases, the learning outcome will further be guaranteed.
Teaching methodology
The course will contain a balanced mix of theoretic impulses, discussions but mostly group work on specific cases, combining theory and application .

- History of process management and its implications to current challenges
- Project: Process Management
- Consequences of process orientation
Lean Management
- History
- Principles of Lean Management
- Aspects of Lean Management concerning logistics and SCM
- Methodologies of Lean Management / Production (5S, KANBAN, Total Productive Maintenance, etc.)
Industry 4.0
- Terms and definitions
- Challenges for existing processes
- New processes
Teaching case:
The major focus is the application of the theoretic impulses on teaching case. Therefore, specific processes will be analysed and possible changes and its effects discussed.

- Active participation throughout the course

- This includes case studies that demand the use of
- Grading of presentations about process management topics
