Course Information

Intended learning outcomes

The "Peer Seminar" is an integral part of the Doctoral Program "Informatics" and is to support and foster intense exchange, mutual support, interaction, and collaboration among PhD students and with the supervisors, respectively. It also provides room to try new course formats, according to the interests and needs of the PhD students enrolled.

The seminar is formally led by Doctoral Program faculty members, but is to be organized by the PhD students themselves.

It is envisaged that the "Peer Seminar" will take one of various forms, depending on the interests, needs, and commitment of the students. It may be performed, for instance, as a series of colloquia, as reading groups, in the form of a retreat of students and supervisors, as a “hackathon”, or as a series of “tool sessions” where students present their use of research/development tools in order to help each other.

Teaching methodology including the use of eLearning tools

The PhD students will organize and run the seminar according to their interests and preferences, under the supervision of the professors.

The seminar typically focusses on methodological issues relevant to the research work of the PhD students.
